Our Services

Appraisal Inspections

Required when financing a boat, during estate settlements, when donating a boat, or in legal cases. Appraisal Inspections allow us to collect the information necessary to determine a boat's fair market value.

Pre-Sale Surveys

If you are considering selling your boat, you should strongly consider having a Pre-Sale Survey conducted. This is done using the same guidelines as a Pre-Purchase survey, however it is conducted prior to placing the vessel up for sale. Its importance cannot be overlooked as it gives you, the seller, a heads-up prior to selling your boat. If there are any deficiencies you will want to know them before a buyer arrives.

Insurance Surveys

Insurance companies usually require an Insurance Survey (often referred to as a Condition and Value Inspection or a Marine Risk Inspection), in order to establish whether a boat is an acceptable insurance risk. The main focus of an Insurance Survey is on structural integrity of the boat and safety and also includes our valuation of the boat.

Pre-Purchase Surveys

If you are considering buying a boat, a Pre-Purchase Survey performed by United Marine Surveyors will give you the confidence you need to accurately assess the boat you are buying. A well-done survey, including a clear report with recommendations and our expert opinion on the market value of the boat, strengthens your negotiation position with the seller, and invariably saves money for our clients.

New Vessel Delivery Inspections

If you are taking delivery of a new boat from a boat builder or dealer, it makes sense to have a Delivery Inspection performed before making your last payment. United Marine Surveyors will provide you with a detailed report with a punch list, so that you and the builder or dealer knows exactly what needs to be done before the last payment will be made and title is transferred.

Load & Stow Surveys

If your vessel is being transported by sea aboard a larger transport vessel. We will document and ensure your vessel is safely loaded and secured. This survey is often requested by insurance companies. This insures that any pre-existing damage is documented, and verifies any possible damage during the loading proceedure. The surveyor also checks all of the lashings, cradles, tie-downs, etc., to ensure that the vessel is properly stowed before the transport ship sails.

Damage Surveys

We will assess the extent of damage, recommend repairs, estimate repair cost, and if requested, possible cause.

New Construction and Refit Project Management Services

United Marine Surveyors has extensive experience in repairs, paint work, re-powers, and complete refits. We provide project management for owners who cannot or would rather not manage their own projects. We will review your job specifications, monitor the work and provide you with written reports and photos.
